season 2 open call

Get drafted for Season 2

We're drafting both pilots and ghosts for Season 2 — a $100K prize pool across the season and four teams competing permanently. Pilots drive full-scale humanoids in the arena; ghosts build the Physical AI stack behind them. Pick your track and get in the pool.

Season 1 is live now, with $25K in prizes going out to current teams.

Unitree G1

roles

Drive the body. Build the mind.

Pilots control the robots in the arena. Ghosts decide who wins. Two official roles power every team — pick the one that fits how you want to compete.

Pilots

Drive the body

We're sourcing: Martial artists, dancers, and high-performance athletes, plus esports players, gamers, and content creators.

  • The real-time nervous system of our humanoids
  • Pilot full-scale humanoids via Direct Body Control — taught in-season, no robotics background needed
  • Become the team's face and storyteller
  • Grow through the ranks and build a legacy

Ghosts

Build the mind

We're sourcing: Roboticists, students, startups, and builders working across the Physical AI stack — hardware, software, and AI.

  • Train movement and evolve autonomy
  • Improve balance, recovery, and agility
  • Analyze match data and evolve strategy
  • Build the physical ai stack
why the league exists

Ultimate bots was built to create a real testing ground for humanoid robotics — a place to validate safety practices, pressure-test new research in public, and push real-world adoption forward. Our direct body control technology lets anyone become a robot pilot through natural movement.

why join season 2

Season 2 is the league's open call for the people who make the robots move — pilots in the arena and ghosts behind the stack. Top applicants get access to advanced hardware, compute, mentor support, and deep technical collaboration so they can experiment faster and build breakthrough behaviors.

disciplines

The competition disciplines

UFB Fighting

The anchor discipline. 1-on-1 humanoid combat in a sanctioned cage, with strict weight matching and a champion crowned in every weight class.

UDB Dancing

Solo choreographed routines performed fully autonomously, judged on artistic expression, technical complexity, and vibes.

USB Soccer

Multi-agent humanoid team play, run fully autonomously — goals decide the match, with shots and possession as tiebreakers.

process

How the ghost track works

01

Open call

Ghost Trials runs as a continuous open call — apply directly through UFB Studio or at partner hackathons like CalHacks.

02

Qualifier sim & build work

Ghosts are selected on technical capability shown in qualifier work — policies and builds developed and validated in UFB Studio simulation.

03

Robot assignment

Selected teams receive a league-owned humanoid — currently the Unitree G1 — for the season. No purchase required; it's the student, indie, and startup path.

04

Matching & team formation

The league pairs pilots with ghosts and fills out each five-person team — manager, pit mechanic, and a supplementary member.

05

Season integration

Final teams compete across league disciplines for per-event championships and the season-long Ultimate Bots CyberCrown.

Apply to compete

One form for both tracks. Pick pilot or ghost, tell us how to reach you, why you want to join, and what makes you qualified. You apply as an individual — we pair pilots with ghosts and build out each team, so you don't need a full squad to enter. Our team reviews every application and follows up with next steps.
